sunrise: 5:17
Our oldest daughter spent a summer in Africa during high school. She was so enchanted by it that she asked for a wall mural as a gift (and returned to Africa a few years later). Her youngest sister had a mural of manatees on her bedroom wall, painted by two local high school aged artists, and A. got the idea from that whimsical wall. We called the two painting girls back in to recreate A's African experience.
This mural was a combination of several of A's photos - including a sunset. Or, it could be a sunrise too. A's window faces east, and I do my morning stretches in there. On the wall is an African sunrise, and out the window I watch the beginning glow of a Maine one.
Today - Maine wins.

I've just caught up on a LOT of missed blogs -- the last month has not allowed me to do anything but sort books and sort the old house out -- it's finally almost ready, so I'm catching up on the rest of my life. And Robin, much as I love your blogs (and I truly do) -- nothing has entertained me as much as Jonathan and Carl and the discussions about how to solve the porcupine problems. Carl -- I miss you -- I really do! Reading your words to Jonathan brings back such good memories -- if you ever find yourself back in the Upper Valley, I have endless free beds and would love to see you in my new digs.
ReplyDeleteJonathan -- I think Carl has it right. You are doomed to porcupines. Kate and Clara will maybe learn -- tho' I doubt it -- and good ol' Guster, smart boy that he is, will remain unscathed.
Tessa -- congrats on all your accomplishments -- I wish I could have been there for some of them. I will certainly see you in June when I return from Morocco! And double congrats re Emerson -- yay for Boston!!
This is more than a letter than a comment -- but I'll be quiet for a long while, I promise. Blog one, Robin ..

One should reread what one writes. More OF a letter ... and, of course, blog ON!
ReplyDeleteCan you tell it's bedtime?
