The Year is Complete!

Please feel free to look back through the 365 days of 2010 sunrises, but "a year of getting up to meet the day" is officially completed. There will be no more new posts.

Thank you so much for visiting.
A one year blog project in which I share a process of transitions: emptying of the nest, reacquainting with my rusty intellect, plowing onward with my first full length book, entering the second half of my first century, and generally reflecting on life.

social hangover

sunrise:  4:49

Earliest sunrise of the year!  Another 6 days to the actual halfway point of 2010, but this feels like more of a milestone to me.  From now on, the sun will rise a little bit later every morning until some time in the first few days of 2011, when I'll be sleeping in! (or not...we'll see)

J was on call last night, and had to take some phone calls at around 3am.  Since he was awake, he joined the dogs and me outdoors this morning.  Always the practical sort, he lugged in some firewood from the glade.

J, T, and I sat down to dinner together last night for the first time in a while, all of us a bit disoriented in the aftermath of a high-intensity weekend.  In the first day or two following a huge event, tons of crowds, hyper mental and emotional engagement and social immersion, there is often a sort of after buzz in the atmosphere.  It feels as though the swirling energies of all those people linger in the air, filling the quiet.

Maybe you could call it a social hangover.

That's a bit how last night felt at the dinner table.  We all heaved a big sigh.  Talked about this and that.  Then we watched a mindless comedy before bed (Men Who Stare at Goats - very odd film).  No one had the energy for much more than that.

T's summer job starts in two days, and it's time for me to regroup and get back to my job.  My fledgling job.  Time to work on carving out a writing life.
